Well, it has been quite a year for Twin Peaks Classical Academy High School student athletes. Our participation numbers reached an all time high this school year, as Timberwolves Nation pride was everywhere. Fall sports began with Cross Country, Women's Volleyball, and Men’s Soccer.
Cross Country worked hard all season with an extremely young squad. The men's team finished second at the Foothills League meet, and came up just a few places short of a state qualifying time at their regional meet. Ian Chrisler received first team all league honors as a senior. This year, for the first time, we had multiple women runners as well. The future looks incredibly bright as Coach Lynn Jenner assumes the role of head coach beginning in the fall of 2024/2025.
Men’s soccer will be back next year with many returning players, as they look to improve their standing in a reshaped and bigger pool of teams in the Foothills league. Yannis Diby and Josh Bishop were awarded first team all league honors for the 2024 season, and with both players graduating, the juniors will be asked to fill some big shoes. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for this fantastic group of young men, and their returning Coach Sebastian Roeder.
Women's Volleyball continues to improve under Coach Hailey Rehage. Heading into an expanded pool of teams for the 2024/2025 school year, Coach Rehage and her staff will be ready in late July to begin the preparation for the upcoming season. We are excited for what the future has in store for our Volleyball team. Ella Schauer was awarded First Team All League for the 2023 season.
As the weather grew a little colder, we found ourselves back in the gym for High School Basketball Season, and what a season it was. After finishing as runners up in our own Twin Peaks Winter Classic in 2023/2024, both our Women’s and Men’s team were able to pull off the first ever double Championship! That was a great start of what quickly turned into the best high school season ever for our Women's basketball team. Coach Jim Schauer led the squad to a regular season Foothills League first place finish, and then followed that up with the Foothills League Tournament and League Championship. For an encore, Twin Peaks Classical Academy received their first ever women's state tournament berth. What an incredible season, and we will continue to build upon this success. All League first team honors went to Matthew Wurth and Yannis Diby for the men’s team, and Ella Schauer and Kaleigh Van Pelt for the women's team.
As spring came and melted away all the snow, we moved back outside for women's soccer and track and field seasons. Women's soccer welcomes first year head coach Kelly Romero, and she did a great job putting in a foundation for future success. We will be waiting impatiently to see how the team does in her second season in 2024/2025. Ella Schauer and Hope VonLintel received first team All League honors.
As for track and field, Coach Pam Wanninger and Coach Jill Robinson proved once again that with some hard work, anything can be accomplished. For the second year in a row, Twin Peaks Classical Academy won the Bob Charles award at the Boulder County Track meet. This award is given to the highest performing team, when adjusted for size, and up until last year had only been won by 2 schools. Well now Twin Peaks Classical will be the 2 time defending champion of the award heading into 2024/2025. Also at the BOCO meet, Yannis Diby proved that Twin Peaks Athletes can compete with any level on the track, as he won the men's high jump title. Given that the rest of the BVSD and SVVSD schools (other than Lyons) are all class 4A, and 5A enrollments, this achievement is even more impressive. Track finished their impressive year with the largest number of athletes ever to qualify for the State Track Meet. Josh Bishop finished 2nd in the 300m hurdles, while Yannis Dibby capped off his high school career with a 7th place finish in the 200m dash. Both of these young men set new school records at the state meet as well, so they saved their very best for last.
It was an impressive year for athletics at Twin Peaks Classical Academy, but we will always be most proud of the character that our athletes demonstrate on the field, court, and track. These student athletes are prime examples of well-rounded individuals that are well-prepared to excel in life after graduation! Way to go, Timberwolves!
