Wait Until 8th with image of cell phone crossed out

At Twin Peaks Classical Academy, we believe in nurturing a well-rounded education that goes beyond textbooks and classrooms. One of the core values we uphold is a commitment to a reduced screen environment for all of our students. We see, firsthand, the damaging effects of unmanaged social media and cell phone use on our students.

That's why we are proud to announce our endorsement of the Wait Until 8th pledge—an initiative that encourages families to delay the introduction of smartphones to their children until at least 8th grade. This commitment aligns with our philosophy of promoting healthy childhood development and supporting families in making informed decisions about their children's technology use. While we realize some of our students are already past 8th grade, the information about monitoring and limiting screen time is useful for all ages.

Wait Until 8th empowers parents to unite and support each other in delaying the smartphone temptation until a more appropriate age. Research shows that delaying the introduction of smartphones can lead to improved academic performance, better social skills, and reduced exposure to the risks associated with early and unsupervised internet access.

By joining Wait Until 8th, you join a community of like-minded parents and educators dedicated to fostering a low-tech childhood. At Twin Peaks, we provide an enriching educational environment that focuses on critical thinking, creativity, and personal growth—all while minimizing distractions from excessive screen time.

We invite all families to consider joining us in taking the Wait Until 8th pledge. We can work together to empower our children to learn, grow, and succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
